Although most of us originally met Bob Saget as Danny Tanner, a widowed father of three on the sitcom “Full House,” he was also a TV host, a stand-up comedian, accomplished guitarist, and a cigar afficionado. I think it’s fair to say, we were all pretty shocked when Saget was found dead in his hotel room in early January this year!

After a short stint on “The Morning Program,” Saget played one of TV’s most iconic 90s Dad roles, before becoming the host of “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” and the latter two programs cemented Saget’s status forever as TV star.

Bob found his greatest success in “Full House” and while critics weren’t thrilled with the show, audiences loved it. The series reached the top 20 shortly after its premiere. With cute kids and a lot of domestic humor, it was a natural fit for Saget.

While on “Full House,” Bob was introduced to the enjoyment of cigars by his then 20 year-old co-star, John Stamos and the two of them would often be found enjoying stogies between shooting scenes. In fact in giving Bob’s eulogy at his funeral, John even mentioned, their “last cigar was sitting in an ashtray by the jacuzzi.”

Bob went on to host “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” As the host, Saget provided the transitions between the clips as well as his own comical commentary. The show was an instant ratings hit, climbing to the top 10 in matter of weeks.

In 2005, movie goers got to see the raunchier side of Saget in “The Aristocrats,” a documentary about a famous dirty joke. He also became the narrator for the sitcom, “How I Met Your Mother” that same year. Poking fun at himself, Saget also made a hilarious guest appearance on the comedy series “Entourage,” portraying himself as a cigar-smoking divorced man with a fondness for prostitutes.

Eventually, Bob found himself back onto the comedy circuit. Bob Saget got raunchy in 2021, when he posted a Tik Tok clip of himself smoking one of his favorite Cuban Cohibas, while lip-synching to Kevin Gates’ explicit song, “Me Too.”

It turns out, Bob Saget was an incredibly talented and complex man… the world surely lost one of its greats with his death. May he forever Rest In Peace.
