Soon to be taking the coffee industry by storm is this beautifully decadent and wonderfully versatile offering from Familia LaPointe (from the founders of The NGCS, Susan and Chris LaPointe).
Since the Deanston virgin oak first showed up in 2008 it has been a crowd pleaser, no doubt in part to its low cost and higher than average ABV. Bottled at an appropriate 46.3% and boasting a cheap price tag of around $38 USD there’s no reason why this one isn’t a staple in every home bar.
Today’s green on green pairing could take your taste buds on a magical adventure through valleys of peat moss and mountains of cigar smoke. Spend an hour or two with the La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull and the “new” Ardbeg 10 and I’m sure you’ll enjoy the view. The “old” Ardbeg 10 is a different beast all together, much more gentle and certainly a more delicate monster but rare and hard to find. Last bottled before 2008, but that’s a story for another smoke session.
